I look until a place starts to speak.

I stay with questions. Film, photographs, maps, and Field Notes are how those questions take shape — slowly, in public, without forcing an answer.

Ordinary places hold my attention: small towns, church lots, roads that bind a community, the quiet systems under daily life. Faith, craftsmanship, history, and the people who give a place its texture keep returning.

A map and a life rarely match. Between them is the work — noticing what is easy to miss, and telling it carefully.

What gathers here is that looking. Walk with it awhile. If something stays with you, write contact@thederrickharris.com.
